The Hollins School Dances the Night Away at First Silent Disco

On Thursday, December 21st, The Hollins School organised its inaugural “silent disco” event, drawing enthusiastic participation from students in years 7, 8, and 9. The lively atmosphere and vibrant dance floor created a memorable experience for all attendees.

The event featured a diverse selection of playlists for the dancers, with the Christmas hits proving to be particularly popular among the energetic crowd. A highlight of the evening was the dance-off, in which Year 7 pupil Mia emerged victorious, showcasing her impressive dance moves.

The festivities were further enhanced by the consumption of a variety of sweets and soft drinks, contributing to the overall celebratory ambiance of the occasion. Importantly, all proceeds generated from this enjoyable event are earmarked for donation to two noteworthy charities, YNOT Aspire and Young Carers Link, emphasising The Hollins’ commitment to giving back to the community and supporting important causes.

West End Primary School’s Festive Dash

In the last week of the term, West End Primary school held a sponsored Festive Dash,  inviting the children to come to school wearing festive headwear, fancy dress or festive jumpers.

The children had to run around a route marked out around the school grounds. They had a fantastic time doing it with  older children in Years 5 and 6 supporting the younger children. This was then made even more special when all the sponsorship money was counted and they discovered they’ve raised more than £3000!

Huncoat Primary School Gifted Food Bag Donations from Senator Charity Committee

In the spirit of giving, the Senator Charity Committee has demonstrated their commitment to the community by delivering over 30 bags of food to support Huncoat families and staff during the festive season. This heartwarming initiative aims to provide a ‘mini food bank bag’ to those who would appreciate the thoughtful gesture during this time of year.

The Senator Charity Committee, led by the dedicated Matt Athey, Head of the Committee, orchestrated the drop-off to ensure that families and staff at Huncoat could experience the joy of the season with a little extra support. The bags of essential items are a tangible representation of the committee’s dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of others.

Educate Awards 2023: The Hollins School Wins Outstanding Arts in Secondary School

We are delighted to announce that The Hollins School won the ‘Outstanding Arts in a Secondary School’ at this year’s prestigious Educate Awards 2023.

The school was shortlisted for its dynamic ‘Cohesion through Creativity’ Initiative, which gives all pupils the platform to access high quality arts and culture-based activities. The Judges loved that there was a series of different types of projects, working with different artists, helping to extend the pupils’ knowledge of external artists and how to consider the wider world and transform beyond the confine of the school.

What made the awards ceremony even more special was the fact that The Hollins pupils were given the opportunity to perform and showcase their talent in front of 700 guests. The power-packed performance of dance, spoken word poetry and film – explored the different types of pressures that young people face, ranging from inequalities, racism to personal aspirations.

Headteacher Mrs Sam Haydock said, “I am absolutely delighted that The Hollins has, again, won this category. The plethora of opportunities and experiences that our pupils have access to makes us truly extraordinary in every way possible. I am extremely proud of everything that our young creatives and Mr. Ahmed have achieved.”

The Educate Awards is regarded as one of the largest annual events celebrating the excellence of schools, colleges, teacher and staff from across the Northwest. The event was held on Friday 17th November 2023 at Liverpool Cathedral.

West End Primary School’s Curling Champions

New Sports Facilities at Rhyddings School

We’re excited to announce that Rhyddings School has proudly installed two brand-new multi-purpose sports facilities, including a state-of-the-art sports hall and outdoor AstroTurf playing field.

This development is part of the LET Education Trust’s plans towards the continued improvement of the school’s facilities, and has already proved to be a resounding success – with the new floodlit all-weather pitch hosting pupils and fixtures come rain or shine. The new playing surface gives Rhyddings the exciting opportunity to host competitive fixtures with other schools in the Lancashire area, and thanks to our partners, Vivify, also gives the community the chance to hire the facilities for evening and weekend sessions.

We would like to thank all of our Trustees at LET Education Trust for investing in the school’s future; achieving the best outcome for all of their pupils, and taking sport at Rhyddings to the next level.
