We are delighted to announce that The Hollins School won the ‘Outstanding Arts in a Secondary School’ at this year’s prestigious Educate Awards 2023.

The school was shortlisted for its dynamic ‘Cohesion through Creativity’ Initiative, which gives all pupils the platform to access high quality arts and culture-based activities. The Judges loved that there was a series of different types of projects, working with different artists, helping to extend the pupils’ knowledge of external artists and how to consider the wider world and transform beyond the confine of the school.

What made the awards ceremony even more special was the fact that The Hollins pupils were given the opportunity to perform and showcase their talent in front of 700 guests. The power-packed performance of dance, spoken word poetry and film – explored the different types of pressures that young people face, ranging from inequalities, racism to personal aspirations.

Headteacher Mrs Sam Haydock said, “I am absolutely delighted that The Hollins has, again, won this category. The plethora of opportunities and experiences that our pupils have access to makes us truly extraordinary in every way possible. I am extremely proud of everything that our young creatives and Mr. Ahmed have achieved.”

The Educate Awards is regarded as one of the largest annual events celebrating the excellence of schools, colleges, teacher and staff from across the Northwest. The event was held on Friday 17th November 2023 at Liverpool Cathedral.
