Let’s Be Foundation: Woodland’s Care Home

The LET’s Be Foundation at The Hollins have begun their latest venture in voluntary work at Woodlands Care Home. Every Thursday evening the volunteers dedicate their time to be with the residents, creating meaningful connections and bridging the generation gap.

Through sharing memories, discovering shared interests, and fostering positive relationships, these pupils are actively contributing to building understanding and harmony between generations.

West End Primary’s Football Success

We couldn’t be prouder of the incredible Year 2 and 3 footballers at West End Primary School who recently took part in a local competition designed for talented and gifted players and came out the winners.

We are incredibly proud of how they gave it their all and displayed exceptional sportsmanship throughout. Congratulations to these outstanding pupils on their well-deserved success!

The Word Cup Comes to The Hollins

The Hollins is getting ready for an exciting and inspiring adventure as they take part in “The Word Cup,” a national spoken word project. Our talented pupils will be immersed in five creative workshops, igniting their creativity and enabling them to collaboratively produce two captivating group poems.

However, the journey doesn’t end there.  Following the workshops, they will proudly present their poems at a local showcase, and take part in an unforgettable weekend creative residential where they will have the chance to meet and compete with other brilliant groups.

Jay Kurdy’s Visit to Rhyddings

Rhyddings recently had the pleasure of hosting the talented music artist, Jay Kurdy. Jay paid a special visit to our school to perform his latest song (which is currently at number six on the dance charts).

Our enthusiastic students from Years 7, 8, and 9 had the opportunity to work closely with Jay. Not only did they enjoy a fantastic live performance, but they also received valuable career advice from the accomplished artist. Moreover, Jay shared an empowering anti-racism message and inspired our students to follow their dreams with passion and determination.

The Year 10 Performing Arts group showcased their impressive skills by handling the sound and lighting for the event. They also had the chance to perform for their fellow students and Jay Kurdy. Their exceptional talent shone through, making the event a resounding success.

A Trip to the Zoo

Pupils from Huncoat Primary school, ranging from our curious Nursery group to our eager Year 6, had an exciting adventure to Blackpool Zoo.

The pupils had fantastic weather as they explored the various animal exhibits and enjoyed engaging talks on sea lions, gorillas, and elephants. Some lucky classes even had the opportunity to handle real elephant teeth!

This memorable trip wasn’t just about fun, though; it was also educational for the pupils. Following the visit, they have been working on projects related to habitats and conservation, creatively linking geography and science with their first-hand experiences at the zoo.

The Hollins Summer Athletics

The summer term competitions began with pupils from The Hollins taking place in an athletics event. The Hollins selected 8 boys and 8 girls pupils based on their overall performance in athletics lessons.

During the event, each pupil participated in one track and one field event and they all performed exceptionally well in a highly competitive event, resulting in a 4th place finish across both the Hyndburn and Ribble Valley Districts.

Additionally, Year 10 sports leaders from The Hollins helped to set up the event and took part by officiating and organising the results.

All of the pupils attending the event showcased their dedication, manners, and hard work throughout the day.

Congratulations to all the pupils who participated in the competition at Wilsons Playing Fields.

ELCC Work Experience for Rhyddings Pupil

Within the LET Education Trust, we pride ourselves on our hard-working pupils and their dedication to succeed.

Year 11 pupils at Rhyddings School have been considering their next steps for when they leave Rhyddings, and one pupil Mohsin was keen to learn more about an apprenticeship in accountancy. He started a conversation with Mr Khawaja and asked if he knew any pupils that have done well in this field – this is when he learnt about our past pupil Connor and his successful career at East Lancs Chamber of Commerce.

Mohsin used his initiative and this resulted in him visiting East Lancs Chamber of Commerce for the day and learnt all about the daily life of an accountant.

Mohsin was really engaged throughout the experience, he took notes on his phone and confidently asked questions.

During his time at East Lancs Chamber of Commerce, he learnt a lot about this career including accounting systems, a range of payment, invoicing, invoices and remittance advices, breaking down payments received into net and VAT, posting supplier payments and adding supplier invoices onto the accounting system ready for payment.

We are exceptionally proud of Mohsin for showing commitment and initiative in finding work experience and we hope the experience proves to be valuable for him.

Rhyddings Trip to Manchester United

Rhyddings Business and Travel and Tourism pupils recently visited Old Trafford, the home of Manchester United, and gained a comprehensive understanding of the club’s business and football aspects.

Before being given a tour of the stadium, the pupils had an informative talk and gained valuable insights into the club’s marketing, merchandising, and event management.

The pupils were fascinated by the talk and learned how the business side of the club works in tandem with the football side, which contributes to the club’s status as one of the world’s most successful football clubs.
